TWO NEW EAST COAST CHAMPIONS

Tyson Jones wins PKF East Coast Super Light-Heavyweight championship by unanimous decision

Ed Unkel wins PKF East Coast Light-Heavyweight championship by 2nd round KO

Merv Payne & Alex Petrillo fought exhibition bouts

Shane Cofone Wins Amateur debut by unanimous decision !!!

On Friday June 20th - Shane Cofone from Campbell’s stepped into the ring with a Black belt from Shaolin Self Defense Centers. Shane looked great in his first fight as he won the 1st round easily by landing the harder and cleaner shots. The 2nd round had the action going back and forth. The 3rd round had Shane coming out strong as he landed lots of combinations that had his opponent hurt many times. At the end of three rounds the judges all gave the fight to Shane Cofone.

Merv Payne won by forfeit. As Merv was set to fight an undefeated fighter. For reasons unknown, The guy decided not to fight. The fight game is a tough game and we give Merv all the credit in the world to agree to step up and fight an undefeated more experienced fighter.

***Ironically 10 years ago on June 20,1998 a 15 year old lefty made his amateur debut where he won by decision- that was Bobby Campbell. Shane Cofone is 15 years old, a lefty, and just won his amateur debut 10 years later on the same date. Also Shane and Bobby are neighbors. Can’t wait to see where Shane will be in 10 years.***

Ed Unkel and Ozzy Dugulubgov battle to a draw!

It was a sold out crowd at the Capitale in NYC on Friday June 13th . Ed Stepped into the ring against the Head Instructor of K-Dojo MMA, and World Tae Kwon Do Champion Ozzy Dugulubgov. Ozzy showed he was a world Tae Kwon Do champion as he threw lighting fast kicks. Ozzy won round 1 with his fast kicks and strong awkward punches. Round 2 had Ed closing the gap and landing some good shots, but Ozzy was still wining the round. At the end of two rounds I had the score 20-18 for Ozzy. Ed needed a knock out to win. The third and final round had Ed coming out on fire as he ripped to the body and had Ozzy hurt a number of times. Then with 12 seconds left of the round Ed landed a combination that set Ozzy to the floor. Ozzy got up and wobbled around and was save by the bell. 29-27 Ed, 28-28 Even, 28-28 Even = Majority Draw. A re-match is set for late Sepetmber.
